  • Provide constant access to a sufficient quantity of clean potable water.
  • Maintain food and water bowls in clean condition.
  • Provide a balanced and nutritious diet suitable for your pet’s individual needs to maintain good health having regard to age, physical activity, growth, etc.
  • The amount and frequency of food provided should be suitable for your pet’s individual needs.
  • Don’t change your pet’s diet suddenly.
  • Maintain your pet within an optimum range of body condition. Pets which exhibit extreme body condition (very thin or grossly obese) should receive veterinary attention and appropriate remedial action must be taken.
  • Multi-pet households should have enough food and water points available so that each pet can eat or drink separately without feeling threatened by others.
  • Keep your pet away from substances and foods which may be harmful to it. Make sure that anything you give your pet to eat is safe and consult a registered veterinary surgeon if necessary.
